Title: Antique

Description: The two small insulators on this building are showing that there is 120 volts of power service available to the building. Old insulators like this often indicate that the buildings are employing an old (actually antique) wiring system commonly called "knob & tube" wiring. The name springs from the usage of porcelain "knobs" which are insulators attached onto the surface of framing and porcelain tubes which penetrate through framing members. The insulators isolate the conductors from the framing members.
