Professional Home Inspectors Institute
PHII is an internationally recognized Open Campus for teaching, testing,
certification, consultancy, information research, and publishing activities
based upon the U.S. Open University model.
PHII promotes international research and collaboration by providing information
from its library and databases via the Internet; other audiences are reached
through publications.
Our reach spans the globe. Presently, PHII provides training availability to
all English speaking Countries and individuals. Shortly, the Institute will
expand its training to include all Spanish speaking Countries and individuals.
This endeavor is well underway with major training and reporting publications
completed.
The majority of our offerings are accepted by State/Provincial Governments
and/or National Associations for their continuing education requirements. Each
offering that meets the requirement of a State or association is identified as
such and the corresponding credit hours are posted in the listings. Other
offerings that relate to business operation, management, marketing, etc. may
not be a part of a governmental or trade associations learning agenda and
will not carry continuing education credits. These offerings are invaluable to
the success of the individual and are considered indispensable by the Institute
and the education community. These courses may be transferable credit for
vocational and community colleges offering similar curriculums.
The Professional Home Inspectors Institute Mission
Our mission is to provide certificated, standardized, education to the home
inspection field through the application of technology and human resource to a

Field Training A Certified Program
Effective training in the field requires more than simple OJT. Our
Certified Program requires the Student and Home Inspector (a
qualified Faculty member) to interact in a specified program of training. The
Student is issued a Field Training Manual that covers the required
learning in all of the training modules. The Faculty member initiates Student
Exercises based on the Field Training Syllabus during the course of
each Home Inspection. A progress report is generated by the Faculty following
each Field Training Home Inspection and is posted in the Students
Progress Log on this web site. Field training is considered
complete once a Student has successfully completed all of the mandatory
exercises and has demonstrated competence to the Faculty. Training progresses
at a pace specified by the Student and the length of training time is Student
directed based upon prior experience and personal capability. Upon satisfactory
completion of the training program, the Student is presented a
Certificate of Training which is considered to be the entry point
for a career as a Professional Home Inspector.

Seminars
Our seminar series is nearly boundless in topics and locations. Seminars are
presented on Hot Topics as well as informational or educational
topics. Seminars are formed and offered based upon the requests in the
community, or the needs of the Home Inspectors in that area. A few seminars are
aimed at the non-inspector professional in a related field and the
non-inspector that is investigating a career in Home Inspection. The core of
our Seminar series is intended to provide Home Inspector Continuing Education.
Continuing Education is mandated by many Professional Associations, and State
Licensing Laws. PHII provides useful, insightful, and professional educational
seminars that meet the needs of both the beginning Home Inspector and the
advanced Home Inspector. You can be assured that attending one of our seminars
will bring you new and useful information.
