g. Ashdump clean/secure/provide door:
The ashdumps from fireplaces must occasionally be cleaned to prevent hot ashes from collecting near the cleanout door. The door itself must be kept closed to prevent ashes from escaping. Occasionally the door is completely rusted out, nonfunctional, or missing. These conditions require door replacement.

Obtain a new ashdump door from a local chimney sweep or building supply store. Keep the area around the ashdump clear. |
